Artificial Intelligence; Should Christians Be Concerned

Imagine a world where the possibility of making your own videos within minutes, creating your own songs, generating your own recipes, designing your own fashion, making your own animations, creating a website in minutes, an Excel spreadsheet in seconds, writing your best thesis, or your first ever book, generating your own custom art, or playing games with robotic partners. That world is here and now. But all that, as fun as it sounds, may very well take a dangerous, drastic change in the very near future.
While I will be careful here to downplay the tool of artificial intelligence (obviously, I have used some notations in my search for this article), and I would be foolish to say that all AI is bad…(self-driving cars are cool! And robot-delivered food is fun! And where would we be without grammar and spell check?) WE MUST be careful as Christians to how much we become accustomed to using, but more so trusting AI. The agenda for its use is far more sinister than one realizes.
Daniel 12:4 speak of knowledge increasing and people "running to and fro," often interpreted as foreshadowing rapid technological and informational growth, while Revelation 13:1-18 describes advanced, deceptive systems (the beast and false prophet) tied to global control, linking technology to end-times events, and verses like 1 Corinthians 9:22 and Matthew 28:16-20 encourage using any available means (including modern tech) to spread the gospel.
Revelation 13:16-17: Describes the "mark of the beast," involving economic control (buying/selling) that requires a mark, interpreted by some as a system facilitated by advanced tech like digital IDs. (1)
Many scholars see this as a hint that human advancement—travel, communication, information—would explode in the end times. While it doesn’t specifically mention technology, it describes a world of rapid progress, which accurately describes the world we live in today.
End-time systems & global control
Revelation describes:
Global communication, Global commerce, Systems of identification and buying/selling
(Rev. 13) These passages don’t mention computers or AI, but the structure described resembles what technology makes possible today. (2)
AI creators warn us that it is likely that "we will not be able to stop this newest technology," even if regulated. We can hope to control it, but eventually it will outsmart humans and make its own decisions. It may soon be the instrument that eradicates humans. And that "soon" is upon our civilization.
AI machines can mimic function. But they cannot carry anointing, compassion, spirit, character, or calling. AI is not a god. AI will not “save” you. But it could destroy you.
How do we stay spiritually anchored in this rapidly changing AI world? (3)
We must stay alert (1 Peter 5:8). We must keep our hearts with diligence (Proverbs 4:23). We must walk in wisdom (Ephesians 5:15–16) We must fear not (Isaiah 41:10). We must fix our eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2)
People fear technology because it feels out of control.
But God is not threatened by AI. He isn’t alarmed. He isn’t surprised. He isn’t intimidated.
The world is still in His hands. He will only allow so much, just like the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11. God confounded their language so that progress could not continue, and He can do the same thing today!
Technology doesn’t create evil or good; it exposes and magnifies it.
If a heart is prideful → technology becomes a tool for pride. If a heart is wicked → technology becomes a tool for wickedness.
Here is one of the biggest concerns.
AI Technology can overstimulate the mind, distract from prayer, replace solitude, numb the spirit, create spiritual dullness, and trick us with mind manipulation.
People become information-full but spiritually-empty.
This is Satan’s easiest strategy: Not to destroy you… just distract you. (4)
AI will encourage self-promotion, comparison, vanity, pride, attention-seeking, and will pave a path for its own truth. This will be spiritually dangerous for people; all the more reason for careful consideration. AI is addictive and transformative. And those who are already plugged into using every day will not like this message. We must be careful how much control we give anything over our lives.
Another serious concern is that people will turn to AI to be their counselor, their pastor, their therapist, their doctor, their mentor, their best friend, etc, breaking down human connections and friendships. We could easily learn to trust technology more than God and His word.
AI mimics companionship and “presence,” making it feel your conversation and interaction are real.
AI Technology makes deception:
faster, easier, more global, more convincing, and more emotionally targeted.
AI makes it possible to:
clone voices, fake videos, manipulate emotions, lie instantly, and alter reality.
Virtually all consumer-facing AI tools collect and store information about you, either actively (through your inputs) or passively (through device sensors and online activity).
AI can subtly pull you into: distraction, dependence, isolation, emotional numbness, and overconsumption. And this ”power” is becoming a “superpower” simply by us using it every day. We are feeding it at an astronomical speed.
AI tools track us, our purchases, our searches, and our conversations:
Generative AI Chatbots: Tools like ChatGPT and Google Gemini collect conversation content and queries to train future models and improve services.
Smart Home Devices: AI-powered smart speakers, like Amazon Alexa and Google Nest, and fitness trackers gather data through voice recognition, biometric sensors, and location tracking.
Social Media Platforms: Companies such as Meta (Facebook, Instagram) use AI to analyze posts, videos, and interactions to train models and aggregate data for advertising.
Web Browsing and Search Engines: Search history, website visits, and click behavior are tracked. AI is used to predict behavior and optimize engagement.
Specialized "People Finder" Tools: Services like Whitebridge.ai use AI to find publicly available information about individuals. This creates digital footprints for background checks, sales, or personal research. (5)
Let’s be careful. Let’s be watchful. Let’s be diligent in our walk with God. AI is no replacement for our walk with God, which includes prayer, study, devotion, and the infilling of the Holy Spirit. We cannot let AI be our god.
Remember the movie Wall-E?
The movie Wall-E is an entertaining tale of a dystopian future of robots, automation, and humanity. A polluted earth is left abandoned except for robots like the charming title character Wall-E, who are left to clean up the mess. Humans have fled the planet, coddled aboard a massive ark-like spaceship where automated systems take care of their every need. It is striking that the most human-like characters in the movie are the two main robot characters, while the human characters are portrayed as obese, feeble, and passive, shuttled about in reclining chairs, and consuming beverages while perpetually entertained by personal screens. At the climax of the movie, the ship’s captain valiantly struggles to stand and, unaccustomed to walking, waddles over to the main control panel to wrestle control back from the automated ship. ://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://www.asa3.org/ASA/PSCF/2019/PSCF6-19Schuurman.pdf
I've spent hours viewing videos and podcasts that share alarming concerns about the newest release of "Grok4." By their confession, the best by far "Super Intelligence." But this "Super Intelligence" comes with grave concerns.
Here is a list of words others used to describe where we are heading with this newest ASI. (Artificial Super Intelligence.)
"Terrifying", "Most powerful", "Advanced reasoning and coding", "Reckless", "Safety guardrails easily fragile", "Fragile content filter", "Dangerous and antisematic".
Elon Musk, in a video (I'll link below), used these words: "vastly smarter than any human", "we should be cautious", "potential of civilization destruction", "It is conceivable to reach a point where you can't turn it off". "It will make decisions for humans", "It has the potential for bad", and it could eventually "Manipulate public opinion." He also states, "It will have the potential to jump the curb, become autonomous, unable to turn off."
And lastly, it could "Control your brain through words." (6)
BlazeTV host said, "It surpasses the expertise of PhD-level scholars in all fields. It can get 100% on any test for any field. Mathematics, physics, engineering, you name it. This is not a search engine, this is a system that tackles problems so intricate they they go beyond our
existing knowledge base." He states, "This is unnerving. This should jolt everyone awake!"
"Gro 4 will uncover new physical law, so that will rewrite the understanding of the entire universe and there will come new."
As you can see, this study could go on for days, but I’ll sum it up now with a quote from AI -for the point.
"AI provides valuable assistance for creations, studies, and information, but it lacks the depth of human connection and spiritual guidance. It's a tool, it is not a spiritual guide, not God, and not a replacement for the Holy Spirit. It is not a counselor or a best friend. It is a tool -not a voice of truth."
(written by AI)
The picture has been painted. There is much to be concerned about regarding AI, especially the latest, Grok4. In brief, many people are concerned about where we are headed. But we will soon know, because AI Creators say the next two years will be like nothing we've ever seen before.
Proceed prayerfully and wisely for our nation and your own soul.
